NiHao from Beijing!

We made it! Our flight was good. Very long. The first 9 hours weren't too bad, however, the last 4 or so were pretty unbearable. It was hard to get comfortable and we didn't get too much sleep. When we arrived it was about 2:30 PM Friday China time. To us it was 2:30 AM. We were pretty tired. We got to sleep about 6:30 PM or so and I was up at 11. Wide awake. Finally got back to sleep for afew more hours and now am up for good. It about 4 AM Saturday right now. We're going to the Great Wall and Forbidden city today. Hope e make it though the day. Once our bodies figure out what the heck is going on we'll be ok!
Some remarks about China so far:
Traffic is insane! Glad I don't have to drive in it. Our driver in beijing is Mr. Lu and he handles it well :) He knows his horn.
Our guide is named Maggie. She is very sweet. Speaks English very well. Speaking with her makes me realize how poorly I use the language sometimes. Many of the terms I used she didn't understand. She was telling us she owned a dog. In Beijing you are only allowed one small dog. She said you cannot have a large dog or the government will take it away. She loves Golden Retrievers but cannot own one. It's amazing how much we take for granted as Americans.
China looks much like the US. Beijing has a lot of construction going on right now getting ready for the Olympics. The first thing we notice when landing is the smog. It was so hazy. The sun was out but the smog was unbelievable. Hopefully it is a little clearer today so we can get good pictures at the Wall. You know me, first concern is good pics :)
Well this was just a short trial update. No pics yet. We'll post again later tonite (Sat AM US time)with pics from today...hopefully. i hear posting pics is a little difficult here. Keeping fingers crossed. Only 2 days until we see Daniel! Please pray that he has a smooth transiton with us and accepts us as his Mommy and Daddy. More later!
